Amid an epidemic of loneliness and social isolation in our society, it is essential to prioritize opportunities for meaningful connection. The Big Table is an invitation for community members to connect, knowing that we may not have all the answers but by actively listening and engaging, we can acknowledge and address challenges and opportunities. By fostering a culture of curiosity and kindness, we can enhance our individual and collective well-being, opening doors for stronger social bonds and a more connected, resilient community.
Anyone can participate in The Big Table! The more voices, experiences, and perspectives, the better. There is no cost to participate.
Big Table discussions are facilitated by volunteer hosts equipped with a guidebook and materials. Most discussions will include 4-10 people; ideally, some or all participants will be meeting each other for the first time.
Everyone has a seat at the table! Hosts are encouraged to use the Host Guidebook (available in Arabic, English, Nepali, Somali, and Spanish) to prepare for their Big Table conversation!
All throughout central Ohio! Conversations can take place anywhere—at a coffee shop, school, community center, library, house, place of worship, office building, parks, or even virtual spaces.
Big Table conversations open to all are happening throughout central Ohio, including at Columbus Metropolitan Library branches, YMCA of Central Ohio locations, local community centers, and on Zoom. Click here to find a conversation happening near you!
